Ecauses, the Chinese nptech promoter/educator which we first blogged about last December, has now been online for over 6 months. During that time they have already attracted several hundred subscribers and followers to their blog and microblog. In addition to their own blog posts, Ecauses has translated over 80 English articles into Chinese, keeping local readers up-to-date on trends and innovations from the global nptech community, and stimulating discussion of the role of technology in the Chinese nonprofit sector. Some examples of articles which Ecauses has translated are:
- 15 Ways to Use Social Media for #FindingTheGood (Josh Catone, Mashable)
- iPhone Apps for Nonprofits (Britt Bravo, Have Fun • Do Good)
- Advancing Your Mission With GIS Tools (Jim Craner, MapTogether)
- The brave new world of slacktivism (Evgeny Morozov, Net.Effect)
- How to Bring Facebook Fans to Your Nonprofit Blog (Rebecca Leaman, Wild Apricot)
Ecauses has also translated Working with Technical Volunteers: A Manual for NPOs (TechSoup, 2009), given a presentation on Slacktivism to an audience of NGO workers, and live-tweeted several local events.
We look forward to the group's continuing contributions to the nonprofit community in China.
